The SFTR implementing standards have been published in the Official Journal of the EU
It is already a fact that the SFTR delegated and implemented regulations have been published in the official journal of the European Union. Thereby making the regulation’s standards and obligations binding law. The publication took place on Friday 22nd March. This means that presently, namely on April 12th 2019, the requirements covering trade repository registration, transaction reporting, data collection, etc. will be officially in force.
According to the scheduled phase-in approach the reporting obligations will be in effect on April 11th 2020 for banks and investment firms, followed by the CSDs and CCPs on July 11th 2020. All other financial institutions will have to adhere to the obligations from October 11th 2020. Non-financial counterparties beginning from 11th January 2021.
